Remembrance Sunday
Lightwater remembered those that died in the line of duty, gathering at the village memorial in large numbers to pay their respect on Remembrance Sunday.
Following a short ceremony, led by our vicar in the Church Hall the Scouts and Guides paraded to the memorial. Our Scouts laid a wreath on behalf of Scouting at the memorial, as well as played a key part in the lowering and raising of the Union Jack Flag (the only time the flag ever touches the floor, to respect the fallen). We were very proud of them all, as they looked so smart and took part in the prayers and singing of hymns with intent.
Back at the Church hall we were treated to tea and cake. With large boards providing information behind each of the names on our memorial. A truly fascinating insight into Lightwaters past.
