Scoutabout is an extraordinary event that only happens once every three years within our County. Approx. 6,000 Scouts and Guides aged between 10-14 from all over Surrey participating in a weekend of fun, learning and over 400 activities. You name it, its probably there – see a list of activities from a previous event below. Our scouts have been parascending, driven monster trucks and been white water rafting here!
It takes place in the South East of England Showground, Ardingly, West Sussex – the only local place big enough to take us all! It’s a secure site, with monitored entrances and exits. Which means Scouts and Guides are able to roam freely (within groups) between activities without their leaders – a freedom they all seem to love!
Timetable
1. Feb: Leaders ask Scouts who is interested – collecting permission forms and payment.
2. March: Leaders book (Deposit and registration of interest)
3. April: Leaders confirm District Coach bookings (numbers required)
4. Beg May: Leaders Register participant details online, and activity that we run (requires submission of a risk assessment).
5. Order Scoutabout Kit
6. End May: Leaders send final payment
7. Beg July: Camp!
